The Board of Directors of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests (AMPB) elected on April 5 began coordination this May 19 in its first session, held virtually. The IX Mesoamerican Territorial Congress of AMPB elected this Board in an assembly held with the territorial authorities of its member organizations in Panama City, Panama.
In its first session, held virtually on May 19, the leading members of the Board reviewed documents for the legal constitution of the Alliance; They discussed advances in the operationalization of the Mesoamerican Territorial Fund as an instrument of territorial investment of the AMPB and agreed on a route for the construction of the strategic plan for the next five years; as well as the strategic orientation of the current cooperation of the platform.
The current Board of Directors represents indigenous peoples and local communities that have come together in defense of their territorial rights. The representations will have a period of three years, from 2022 to 2025.
