Our Forest Carbon Markets Working Group of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests (AMPB), comprised of representatives from Indigenous Peoples’ and local community organizations, advisors, AMPB technical teams, and allied organizations, has issued an important declaration at the “Exploring the Mesoamerican Regional Pathway for High-Integrity Carbon Markets” conference held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on March 12th and 13th, 2024, regarding the need to advance towards fair and transparent carbon markets and REDD+ processes. This declaration reflects AMPB’s efforts and commitments in combating the global climate crisis and defending the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in implementing nature-based solutions.
